We are always looking for sponsors in the form of Companies wishing to advertise on the website. If you are aware of any Company likely to place an advert, please contact Geoff Brown.

We will be updating you with all the important League news, as well as interesting items about teams and players.

During the season your League results and tables will be available to view very quickly each week, as will a report on your game, provided you have given us all the information when requested.

Notts F.A and The F.A. items will also be featured from time to time and we will also be striving to improve the site with more features.

As you can see there is a live weather feed on the fixtures pages so that you can go to your game prepared for the elements.

Enjoy the site and please let us know if you have any items of interest that you would like to be featured on it.

The members of the Management Committee are always pleased to help you, don't hesitate to contact them but always ensure that you do so at a reasonable time.

    'RESPECT PROGRAMME'
All Leagues were asked to give a presentation to their member Clubs ahead of the Notts FA's launch of 'Respect' on the weekend of the 14th/15th February.
Every team playing in a Notts affiliated league will be required to follow the Respect expectations.

Our Presentation took place at the League Meeting on the 3rd February and 'Respect' packs were issued to each team in the League.

It is important to realise that this is not intended as a short-lived initiative but is to be an ongoing programme of good practice to enable all who are involved in football to enjoy it without threat from physical abuse, constant Criticism, enduring foul and abusive language or other inappropriate actions.

    FA Respect tape & posts.
Clubs wishing to order The FA Respect Tape & Posts to create a barrier alongside the pitch should contact Geoff Brown immediately.

    View the Respect video at:-
    www.thefa.com/Respectfilm/

It is incumbent on every Club to ensure that their members (officials, players and spectators) conduct themselves within these expectations.

As part of the programme Clubs will be expected to:

    1. Identify designated spectator area using one of the following.
    > Poles with band.
    > Cones.
    > A line painted on the grass.
Ideally a spectator area will be 2 metres from the touchline on at least one side of the pitch for the full length of the pitch.

    2. Ensure that the team captain wears the FA Respect armband and is aware of his responsibilities as the Captain- the Respect pack includes a Captains guide.

    3. Ensure that all members work together to change negative and abusive behaviour by addressing the culture of verbal and physical abuse:
    > Towards the Referee.
    > By parents and coaches towards children.
Clubs will need to present The Respect programme to all their members to ensure that they are aware of the expectations.

    4. Provide all members with written copies of codes of conduct with sanctions. Clubs will be required to take appropriate action against any member who breaches the codes of conduct.

    SPECIFIC AIMS OF RESPECT INCLUDE:
    > Supporting existing Referee's to stay in the game.
    > Recruiting more Referee's
    > Creating fun and safe playing environments.
    > Educating people on what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
    > Addressing poor and unacceptable behaviour towards Referee's and youngsters.
    > Taking action against those committing abuse.

We as a League will not tolerate unacceptable behaviour towards Officials. The NYL Secretary's folder (pages 7&8) clearly outlines our expectations in the Match Administration Guide which includes the codes of conduct. All teams should already be following these procedures and ensuring that members of their Clubs are conducting themselves in an appropriate manner in line with the F.A. Codes of Conduct.

    REFEREE'S.

    JED RILEY-Referee's Liason Officer, writes:-
Finally the Season is over, it has had its fair share of water logged weekends and my latest finish in all my years of Refereeing. It is vitally important to get off to a good start next September.

The developement of newly appointed Referee's in conjunction with the Notts FA will hopefully lead to both further recruitment and retention. This is my primary function on the MC Committee and is high on my priority list.

A recent meeting convened at the Notts FA with all the major players in attendance proved very positive, at times feelings ran very high but in essence newly qualified Referee's will be passed on from the YEL at the appropriate stage and developement monitored by David Coote, County Referee's Developement Officer.

Some candidates could well be directed straight to the NYL or indeed fast tracked to 'Senior' football. These decisions will be conducted under assessment towards the end of the training period.

Other issues including allocation of officials to Shield fixtures and NYL under 18 and under 16 games counting towards Referee's promotion were also discussed at length.
At last we have some worthwhile proposals on the table.

As you are all aware the 'Respect' programme was wheeled out and training was well attended, we were all hopeful and still are that it's introduction would drive out bad practices and benefit the game we love.

Roping off pitches and the wearing of the bespoke Captains arm bands however is not the be all and end all of the programme. Unfortunately I have witnessed unsatisfactory verbal exchanges recently, even in Cup Finals.

The introduction of the 'Respect' programme has been used in some cases as a stick to beat people with, on one such fixture one set of supporters were berating the other set by shouting 'What do you reckon to that then Ref-where does that fit in with Respect'! Do I need to say more?

The overriding fact is, however, that these bad practices are only evident in a very small minority of Clubs and this should not deter the good work shown by the majority.

My first year on the Committee has been a real eye opener due to the workload and complexity of issues involved, disciplinary matters taking up to 70% of the time with decisions not being made lightly.

To finish on a high note I had the priviledge to Referee the division two match between Hucknall Sports and Team DNF, both needing the points to take the Runners Up spot.

The result went Team DNF's way but the game was a credit to all concerned and gave me the chance to officiate one final time with Mike McGill. Mike has nurtured the highest regard from our Clubs in his approach to the game, he will be sorely missed as he moves on to the NSL.

    REFEREE'S MEETING-Planning Stage.
Early days yet but we are looking at the best time to hold our annual get together. At the moment we feel the best time would be 4/5 weeks into the new season, around mid October.

It is important to have the Handbooks issued to the regular Referee's for the start of the season.
I am sure other issues will be up for debate having had some feed back already from some of our more senior officials and an agenda will be put together for discussion.

If anyone wants to raise something please let me know. What will be important is the presentation of the 'Referee of the Year' trophy to this years winner, this could well be a subject for discussion with some suggestions that such a prestigious award should be made on one of the Presentation Evenings.
Referee's will be notified as to dates when we have had chance to discuss.

    NOTIFYING REFEREE'S.
Please ensure, if you are the home team, that you notify the Referee and provide full details of ground location by Monday evening prior to the date of the match.

When there isn't an appointed Referee for your match (or when the appointed Referee fails to arrive) the match must go ahead with the teams mutually agreeing on a replacement Referee
(qualified or not) to officiate the match.
Where Clubs fail to agree on a replacement Referee, the match will be deemed as unfullfilled and the offending Club(s) will be dealt with in accordance with League rules, points may be deducted and a fine levied.

    CLUB REFEREE'S & ASSISTANT REFEREE'S.
When a member of a club is either Refereeing or running the line, he/she is NOT permitted to coach the team.
In these circumstances the club official must solely focus on the role of referee or assistant referee.

    BECOME A REFEREE.
Are you interested in becoming a Referee next season?
If so, there are regular training courses arranged by the Notts F.A.
Go to the Notts F.A. website on our links page for more details or contact David Coote at the Notts F.A. on 0115 983 7400.

    BEST WISHES:

April has been a tough month for two West Bridgford Colts U17A players. Firstly Lee Hoyes broke his leg on the 18th at Priory Celtic and then goalkeeper Nathan Wolley suffered a broken wrist two days later on the 20th at Wollaton Hall.
We wish them a speedy recovery and hope that they are back in action next season !

Freddie Kemish from Long Eaton United U.16's suffered a cruciate knee injury and other complications at Calverton MW on 14th March.
Freddie will be out of action for nine months and we would all like to wish him well in his recovery !

  • MATCH TALK
    17 May 2009

    Report for 16th/17th May.
    UNDER 18. DIV 1:
In their penultimate game on Monday evening West Bridgford Colts U.18A met West Bridgford Colts U.18C. Two goals apiece from Jordan Prance and James Simpson eased the 'A's to a 5-1 win whilst the prolific Matt Fletcher was again on target for the 'C's.

Teversal FC suffered a setback in their chase for the runners up spot when they lost at home to Breaston FC on Monday. Teversal have now completed their fixtures and must wait to see if Hyson Green Cavaliers can overtake them.

West Bridgford Colts U.18C brought the curtain down on their season on Tuesday when they entertained Hyson Green Cavaliers. Top division Scorer Declan Reid was in hot form as he bagged a hat trick for the visitors in a 6-2 win. Cameron Paton hit back with a brace for Colts.

West Bridgford Colts U.18A played their second game of a busy week on Thursday, with a 2-2 home draw against Breaston FC.

Breaston FC could not continue their good form from earlier in the week when they entertained Hyson Green Cavaliers on Saturday. Cavaliers taking another step towards the runners up spot with a 2-0 victory.

West Bridgford Colts U.18A ended their excellent season with a 3-3 draw away at Cotgrave Butler on Saturday. James Simpson and Jordan Prance collecting four goals apiece this week for Colts who will take fourth spot. Cotgrave will finish in a creditable fifth place in the table.

    UNDER 18. DIV 2:
Hucknall Sports U.18's ended their season on a winning note with a 3-2 home victory over Forest Town Youth on Wednesday.

Champions Carlton Town U.17 brought down the curtain on their season in midweek with another win, this time over second placed Team DNF. Blair Anderson and Zak Bartlett were again on the scoresheet for Town in their 4-3 victory.

Team DNF suffered another blow in their quest for the runners up spot on Saturday when they lost at Forest Town Youth. A 2-1 defeat means that their hopes rest on a last match win or draw over Hucknall Sports U.17.

    UNDER 18. DIV 3:
Alex Ford and Toby Wort bagged a brace apiece as Attenborough Colts travelled to Hucknall United Reds on Monday and won 7-3.

Gedling Southbank Red entertained Bestwood Park Rangers with the visitors coming away with a 3-1 victory.

    UNDER 15. DIV 2:
