Hucknall Sports White 5, Keyworth Utd Green 0

This match was a lot closer than appears from the score line alone. In the first half Keyworth had a lot of the play and quite a few near misses/good chances hitting the barn at least 2 times if not 3 and with the Hucknall keeper saving well on several occasions. However 5 minutes before the end of the first half Hucknall counter attacked and Keyworth defence was a bit exposed with Hucknall crosspiece to a spare player who finished well. A bit against the run of play but a well worked goal.By the time the 2nd half was underway the wind had picked up and Hucknall, had what seemed like an extra man. Early on Hucknall were gifted a goal with a short kick from the Keyworth keeper though the wind hasn’t helped. 10 minutes later a long free kick went straight into the top corner with the help of the wind. By this time some Keyworth heads had dropped and Hucknall were attacking constantly. Keyworth held out but eventually their resistance was broken and a couple of goals finished them off. It might have been different if Keyworth had converted some of their many chances in the first half and some of them in the second half and it might have been a bigger win for Hucknall if Jack Severn in goal for Keyworth hadn’t saved a penalty kick. Big scoreline but small margins.

The game then evened out and Southwell had a couple of good chances but some good goal keeping kept the score at 1-0. East Leake also created two really good chances with Southwell relying on a couple of great saves from Dylan Lee to keep their advantage. The game eventually finished 1-0 which was probably a fair result based on performance.

Netherfield Boys Blue 1, Bingham Town 6

A good battling display from both teams which Bingham buried there chances leaving Netherfield to rue their missed opportunities. For the majority of the first half Bingham largely remained on holiday. Netherfield on the other hand worked hard to close down and put pressure on the ball making it hard for a passing game to be played. In the second half Bingham managed to get going and with some changes to player positions the team looked to be more of an attacking threat and started to gain control of the game. Hats off to Netherfield though who are better organised and coached now and made it a harder game than the final scoreline probably reflects.

More positive play from Southwell was rewarded with Jake again breaking down the right before this time smashing a fierce shot into the goal. Warsop responded seeing the first half finish 2-2. Lewis Horton, Jack Robb and Aaron Simpson scored for Bingham, Ruddington’s goals came courtesy of Ellis Musovic, with a brace, and Dylan Doubleday.

East Leake Bantams 1, Southwell City Lions 1

The game kicked off on a lovely sunny morning following the one minute silence which was respectfully observed by all. Southwell started strongly and had an early shot on goal which was put just wide. Southwell dominated the first half and eventually this paid off when Henry Eastgate slotted home. Southwell had a number of opportunities to extend their lead but failed to take them, the first half finished 0-1. East Leake came into the game in the second half, but despite this Southwell still had chances to extend their lead but were thwarted by the woodwork on a number of occasions. This proved costly as with about 10 minutes to go East Leake attacked and had a certain goal cleared off the line by Archie Stanford, this led to further pressure which resulted in penalty that was coolly converted by Ollie Hunter.

Sherwood FC Red 1, Market Warsop Warriors 2

In what was a very closely contested game, it took a last minute penalty to separate the sides. Both teams had plenty of chances to win the game with the game locked at 1-1. Market Warsop were awarded a penalty with about two minutes to go and scored with the game finishing 2-1 in Warsop’s favour.

Netherfield Boys Blue 1, Ilkeston Town Jnrs 3

Two strong midfields controlled the game until a lapse in concentration allowed Ilkeston to secure all three points with a 3-1 win at Netherfield Boys. Jack Townsend scored all three Ilkeston goals with Netherfield reply coming courtesy of an own goal.

South Notts Blues 2, Priory Celtic 2

In a pretty evenly matched game between two good teams Priory Celtic came from two goals down to earn a well deserved point at South Notts Blues. Starting with a different formation Priory struggled to get to grips with the new formation and there were few chances early on. South Notts went in front when Priory failed to clear a corner and a shot from just inside the area found the bottom right hand corner and this was the score at half time. The Priory management team then changed formation at half time and at the start of the second half Priory created more in trying to get back into the game but were then hit with a sucker punch when a shot from a Priory midfielder rebounded off the post and South Notts launched a counter attack and went 2-0 up with a good finish. Going two goals behind seemed to galvanize Priory who stepped there game up getting in behind the South Notts defence and got back in the game from a set piece when South Notts failed to clear a corner and Josh Caulton netted at the far post. Priory continued to dominate and drew level three minutes from time with a cool finish from Benedict Whittingham. Credit to both sides who both went searching for the winner but neither side deserved to lose this game and the game ended all square at 2-2. Scorers for South Notts were Ace Sharpe and Ben Carr with Max Woodburn the Man of the Match for South Notts.

West Bridgford Chilli Peppers 2, Bulwell Athletic 3

Man of the match Norton completed his hat trick in the 72nd minute before Chilli Peppers hit back with a second goal. Oliver Addison and George McLarne scored for Chilli Peppers.

Keyworth Utd Green 3, Derwent Rangers Black 10

Keyworth seemed to start the match in the wet and cold rather too defensively, which led to an early goal for Derwent. Some great defending kept the visitors at bay until an error from the Keyworth keeper made it 0-2. Derwent scored another just before half time making it 0-3 at the break. Keyworth started the second half better, but conceded another couple of goals, but then finally managed a goal through Jack Waters. Traffic was a bit one way in Derwent’s favour for the rest of the game and more goals followed, dispersed by two more goals for Keyworth from Jack Waters and Ewan Buck.  Callum Sheppard scored 4, Dillon Hodgkinson completed his hat trick, Aaran Racher, Chadd Wootton and Ben Warboys got one each.

Under 15 Division 3

Eastwood Town Jnrs 1, Bingham Town 4

This was a much closer game than the score line reflects. Eastwood had more possession during the game whilst Bingham caught them on the break four times and scored each time. A well taken goal from Flynn Perkins got Bingham going with a close range finish from Aaron Simpson making it 2-0 before the break. Eastwood made four substitutions for the start of the second half, bringing on the Warrington brothers, Harvey Pickworth and Alex Blackwell, all of whom played a significant part in the game. Eastwood continued to battle for everything and were rewarded early in the second half with a Josh Armstrong goal. Bingham kept on their passing game with balls getting behind the Eastwood defence and got another two goals through Perkins, his second of the match, and Jack Robb to finish 4-1.

Market Warsop Warriors 1, Beeston FC 6

With the rain beating down and finding themselves as a team with no keeper, this wasn’t the match Market Warsop Warriors had hoped for, but the lads got their heads together and Nathan Whitehouse volunteered to go in goal this week, and he did not disappoint. The final score of 1-6 to Beeston did not reflect the outstanding performance he put in, making some great saves, one of which being a shot from the penalty spot.

Warriors had their fair share of shots on goal but these were either saved by the keeper or went just wide of the post. Beeston opened the scoring with the only goal of the first half. An early goal in the second half doubled their advantage but Owen Keeling scored with a great header over the keeper to reduce the arrears. Beeston came back and Warriors struggled to stop the goals coming despite the home team trying to press forward. Beeston’s scorers were Joe Relton (3) Ben Floyd, Josh Sharratt and Stalin Charuvilla.

Southwell City Lions 6, Netherfield Boys Blue 2

In a proverbial game of two halves Netherfield Boys Blue took control of the first half and led 2-0 at through Jacob Lord and Usman Shaffi goals. This seemed to wake-up Southwell City Lions and they started to play football, the pressure finally told when Oliver Gratton scored from a cleverly worked free-kick just before half time. Southwell started strongly in the second half. Henry Eastgate stepped up to score the penalty that he’d won with a run into the box. The weather then turned really cold and wet and Southwell started to dominate the game with Eastgate scoring again either side of two goals from Jake Tomlinson to seal the man of the match award. Matt Edinborough scored the final goal of the 6-2 victory for the Lions!

Ilkeston Town Jnrs 0, Ashfield FC 7

A second followed through a fantastic free-kick from Harry Towne into the top left hand corner of the goal to make a game of it at 3-2. Bulwell scored next to make it 4 – 2, only for Keyworth to pull another one back through Ben Antcliff, making a tense finish for both teams. A game played in the right spirit by both teams, along with supporters and coaches. Bulwell’s scorers were Bailey Lewis (2), Dylan Fryer and Connor Norton.

Under 15 Division 3

Ashfield FC 14, Southwell City Lions 0

This was a very one sided affair against a team clearly too good to be in division 3. Ashfield were ahead within a couple of minutes of the kick-off. Southwell battled really hard to keep it down to 5-0 at half time having gone down to 10 men due to injury. Southwell conceded from the kick off in the second half and were overrun by the passing and pace of a very strong Ashfield team. The game eventually finished 14-0 to Ashfield.

Beeston FC 1, Sherwood FC Red 4

Beeston FC hosted Sherwood FC Red at Henley Pearson Rec. KO 10:30. Sherwood started strong with numerous chances to open the score, some good saves and plenty of pressure from Beeston kept the score at 0-0. Beeston got themselves into the game with their own chances but again some good defending kept it close. Sherwood eventually broke the deadlock with a lovely left footed strike from Harvey. The half continued with chances for both teams. Sherwood broke again with pace with a 1v1 with the keeper a penalty was given for a foul on Zhyon. He took the penalty himself and made it 0-2. Beeston kept trying to get back into it and Sherwood broke again to make it 0-3 just before half time. The second half and Beeston came out strong and got an early goal back. Sherwood were rushing a little and allowing Beeston time on the ball, the game eventually went back to how the first half had been played out with both teams defending well. Sherwood again broke with pace and nicked a 4th goal. Match ending 1-4.

Bingham Town 3, Market Warsop Warriors 1

Bingham were 2-0 up at half time from two well worked goals both coming from nice passing team moves. In the second half Bingham were awarded a penalty which they scored. They also missed several good chances with Jack Robb hitting the post twice and two good one-on-one opportunities with Lewis Horton well blocked by the keeper. Bingham had to work and battle hard throughout the game to win possession and this was exemplified by the man of the match Tom Rawson but every member of the team should get a mention. The keeper Lukasz Meidzinski was excellent when he was called on making a fine stop in the second half. Market Warsop got a goal back late in the game.

Burton Joyce White 3, Ilkeston FC Jnrs 1

Burton Joyce White took time to get going however they scored midway through the first half, Mitchell Palmer netting. This was quickly followed by a Rhys Beardsley goal for Ilkeston to make the half time score 1-1. In the second half the home side was quick to liven up but a quick counter attack lead to a penalty for Ilkeston which they missed. Burton Joyce made the most of this good fortune as Ned waters restored their lead with  aheaded goal and Callum Mitchell secured all three points

East Leake Bantams 0, Eastwood Town Jnrs 3

Eastwood started the better and took the game to East Leake Bantams from the start. Eastwood’s finishing was more effective and they went in 2-0 up at the break. Second half Eastwood made four substitutions and continued to press East Leake and scored another. East Leake were unlucky with a couple of efforts later on in the game. Under 15 Division 3

Eastwood Town Jnrs 6, Netherfield Boys Blue 4

This was a game played out between two evenly matched sides. Eastwood’s finishing was more clinical and that was the deciding factor. Eastwood started the match in a determined mood and were keen to get a result today after 3 losses on the bounce. They went in 3-0 up at half time. Second half was a closer affair with Netherfield putting the pressure on Eastwood . A couple of bits of sloppy defending gave Netherfield a life line and pushed Eastwood all the way to the final whistle. Credit to both teams they gave us supporters a good game to watch. A close first half with the wind and slope of the pitch favouring the home side ended 0-0. The second half started much of the same until Bingham managed to find the net. Jack Rob completed his hat trick, Aaron Simpson and Reece Sugars got one each.

Southwell City Lions 0, Burton Joyce White 4

The first half was really evenly matched with both teams attacking and defending well. Just as it looked like the game would be 0:0 at half time, Burton rallied and following some pressure in the Southwell penalty area forced a clearance from Southwell that was sliced into their own goal. The second half was close but Burton pushed Southwell back into their own half and scored a couple of goals in quick succession. Southwell tried but couldn’t find a goal and match eventually finished 0:4 to Burton. Callum Baker, Liam Greasly and Oli Yeatman were the other scorers for the visitors.

The game was quite close in the first half but Keyworth scored twice before half time, taking advantage of some lack of positional discipline from Southwell. A couple of substitutions from Southwell tightened things up seeing the first half end 0-2. The second half was competitive with strong tackling from both sides. Keyworth got a third after which Southwell rallied leading to a good finish from Henry Eastgate. However this spurred Keyworth on as they quickly scored a fourth which sealed the game. Keyworth’s scorers were Ben Antcliff (3) and Harry Towne.

Under 15 Division 2

Bulwell Athletic 2, Moorgreen Colts 8

The scoreline doesn’t reflect the game and Bulwell Athletic’s workmanlike performance against Moorgreen Colts. It was not that Bulwell didn’t play well or put in some effort it was just lady luck was not with the home side who made a slow start and went 2-0 down. Bulwell then settled and started playing some lovely football and created some good chances then in the 35th minute up popped Dylan Fryer with a great finish to reduce the arrears. Five minutes later on the stroke of half time Lewis Gamble fired home a thunder bolt of a shot to make the half time scores level. After the break Moorgreen got the better breaks and scored two goals when the ball rebounded off the ‘keeper and then when the ‘keeper kick clear only to see the ball headed in by a Moorgreen player. The visitors added further goals despite Bulwell working hard to get back into the game, Sam Stanfield taking the Bulwell man-of-the-match award.

No goals though, until Joshua Hall had a good bit of individual play on the edge of the box followed by a low shot into the bottom corner, 1-0 to SNBFC. Second half started with SNBFC on the attack and pressing hard. Lots of hard work saw Joshua Evans get the ball on the right side of the box and whip in a low cross, this was slid into by the defender trying to stop it getting to the striker and unfortunately putting it into the back of his own net. Lots of possession and chances including a rattling of the Crossbar by SNBFC led to no more goals. Bridgford managed to pull one back with 5 mins to go but couldn’t get the equaliser.

Eastwood kept going and not for one moment gave up, credit to the lads for that. The game was played in a good sporting way and we were beaten by a very good footballing side.

Bingham Town 3, Beeston FC 2

This really was a game of two halves with Bingham out passing and playing Beeston in the first half and running in 3-0 up. In the second half with the wind behind them and no doubt a good half time team talk ringing in their ears Beeston really came back into the game clawing the score back to 3-2 and making Bingham have to defend hard for long periods of the half.

East Leake Bantams 4, Sherwood FC Red 0

East Leake Bantams scored four goals without reply against Sherwood Red. Ben Gloag bagged a brace, Ben Gill and Oliver Hunter got one each. In the first few moments Sherwood passed the ball around well and kept putting pressure on East Leake. Sherwood managed to break free and score only for it to be ruled offside. After that goal both sides had chances to score with East Leake being successful with two of their attempts in the first half. The second half saw more of the same from both teams but again after lots of early pressure at the start of the second half for Sherwood they just couldn’t find the net. East Leake scored two more goals on the break whilst Sherwood were trying to get a goal back.

Netherfield Boys Blue 1, Market Warsop Warriors 8

In a game closer than the score suggests, Market Warsop Warriors were more clinical in front of goal to take the points at Netherfield Boys Blue. A tough cup game faced East Leake Bantams as they had a home draw against division 2 side West Bridgford Tigers. The visitors started off well as they took the lead with five minutes played.  Tigers got a second when they converted a penalty. Bantams battled on but went into the break 5-0 down.

Bantams started the better in the second half but couldn’t get a break through until Ben Gloag smartly converted a one on one chance. Tigers scored a couple more with the match ending 7-1. All credit to Bantams who never gave up against a more experienced Tigers’ side. Josh Keen (3), ben Greenfield (2), Anatoly Meersman and Seb Whitlow scored for Tigers.

Keyworth Utd Black 8, Eastwood Town Jnrs 0

The match started off fairly evenly and Eastwood seemed up for the challenge against a Keyworth team from the division above. But gradually Keyworth got into their stride and began to get the measure of Eastwood who trailed 3-0 at half time. Eastwood were hopeful that they could get a goal back and grow in confidence but when awarded a penalty it was hit over the bar. From then on the Eastwood heads gradually dropped and Keyworth took advantage of this and played some nice football with some quality goals. Daniel Jones, Joe Rock and John Croasdale scored two goals each, Ben Pierce and William Maddock were also on target.

A last minute strike by Edan Guncil for Sherwood Red saw the final score end 6-1 to Priory Celtic. Although the score suggests it was one-sided, it certainly wasn’t. Both teams had plenty of chances but luck just wasn’t Sherwood’s day.

West Bridgford Chilli Peppers 2, Burton Joyce Red 4

West Bridgford Chilli Peppers held a 1-0 lead against Burton Joyce Red at the halfway stage. The tables were turned after the break as Burton Joyce ran out 4-2 winners. Sports levelled when Mitchell West was fouled and the resulting penalty was dispatched by Ethan Fells. Sports went in front when Elliot Davis fed Curtis Gregory and his great ball into space allowed Lewis Wright to nip it past the keeper. West was then provider for Gregory who produced a fine finish to seal the three points.

Moorgreen Colts 3, South Notts Blues 4

This game started with lots of possession in the middle of the park, not a lot of shots on goal that is until a nice through ball for Moorgreen saw the first goal come from a calm slot in past the keeper in a one on one situation. South Notts Blues responded well with a solo effort in from the wing with a shot to the bottom corner to level the game. The visitors then took hold of the game with a goal line scramble from a corner to take the lead. The half ended 2-2 when Moorgreen equalised minutes before the whistle.

Moorgreen came out strong in the second half and forced a corner to which they scored with a lovely header to regain the lead. South Notts lifted their heads and pushed for the equaliser and eventually it came with a half volley from outside the box that left the keeper stranded – at this point the game could have gone either way with missed chances and woodwork rattlers!

With two minutes remaining a goal that comes from the books of players like Ibrahimovic or Ronaldo! A nice bit of control on the edge of the box saw a shot that no keeper would have stood a chance with! A powerful shot that hit the top right corner that actually ripped the net from the Crossbar!! This happened to be the last goal and the winner. Moorgreen 3, SNBFC

Under 15 Division 3

Beeston FC 1, Ashfield FC 5

A closely fought game in the first half turned into disappointment for Beeston in the second, as they struggled with constant pressure from Ashfield. A well taken solo goal on the 36th minute put Ashfield ahead, and both sides went in at half time looking fairly evenly matched.

However, the second half was a different story. Ashfield snatched a second three minutes into the second half, then Beeston rallied and got one back through a header from Player of the Match, Josh Sharratt. The resurgence did not last, however, and Ashfield pushed on and scored 3 in a 15 minute period to put the game beyond Beeston’s reach.

Bingham Town were convincing winners against Netherfield Boys Blue. Aaron Simpson rattled in four goals, Jack Robb completed his hat trick and Tom Rawson bagged a brace. Reece Sugars was the other scorer.

Chances came and went at both ends before Jack Townsends strike from 25 yards ended up in the top left hand corner despite a fine effort from the home keeper. The second half continued in the same vein with chances at either end until Jack Townsend scored his second of the game after a lightning break, Rhys Beardsley, Dan Steel and Tom Ward all combined to put Townsend through who coolly slotted under the oncoming keeper. Second half kicked off and within the first 10 minutes Burton Joyce managed to break free and swing the ball into the box for a header to give them the lead.  Sherwood picked themselves up and kicked off again trying to break down the Burton left, a cross was put in and knocked out for a corner, the corner was taken and shortly knocked back out of play for a goal kick. Burton managed to break through Sherwood’s defence again taking the score to 2-0. The Sherwood players kept playing and putting in decent challenges and still tried to break down the wings of the pitch. It was one of those that gave them a share of the points. The second half saw Burton Joyce start to gain more of an advantage and push Beeston back into their own half, resulting in Burton Joyce’s second, another quality strike from outside the box. Both sides battled after the break to try to regain the lead, Sherwood eventually taking advantage of a defensive error to go 2-1 ahead. Ruddington lost a defender due to injury following which Sherwood increased their lead and scored twomore despite some good play by Ruddington.

Netherfield Boys Blue 2, East Leake Bantams  4

East Leake Bantams started brightly at Netherfield Boys Blue despite only having ten men for this match. They were up against it from the start but were desperately wanting to bounce back from last weeks loss.

Ben Gloag, running down the middle then striking it past the keeper opened the scoring with his first goal for the club. Five minutes later Netherfield equalised with a through ball, striking it past the Bantams keeper Max Baker. Bantams responded and Ben Gloag grabbed another nodding it over the keeper for his second. Ruddington Colts 2, Bingham Town 2

Ruddington Colts were the better team in the first half with some high quality and  ast attacking play, but were unable to convert their superiority into more than a 1-0 lead at half-time, this courtesy of a neat finish from debutant Dylan Doubleday.  Injury and illness forced two defensive changes for Ruddington early in the second half and a makeshift defence  became increasingly pressured. Immediately after having a second goal ruled out for offside Bingham countered with a goal from Jack Robb. Ruddington regrouped and showed great character to fashion a second goal, an incisive pass from central midfield finding Ellis Musovic runnning through at speed  on the right hand side and finishing very calmly from inside the box. As the makeshift Ruddington defence and midfield tired they allowed Bingham to gain a second equalizer, again scored by Jack Robb. Man of the match for Ruddington was keeper Josh West who was calm throughout, showed great handling skills and kept encouraging his tired defenders in the second half.

Second half kicked off and Southwell started stronger, they were constantly testing Sherwood’s back line and eventually broke through and got another goal taking the score to 2-2. Sherwood pressed on and tried to bring the game back but conceded a further 2 goals bringing the end result to 4-2. Matt Edinborough and Matt Smith shared the Southwell goals.
